The West Virginia Chamber's 2023 Environmental and Energy Conference took place May 23, 2023 at the Charleston Marriott Town Center. This annual conference allowed attendees to make sure their company is up-to-date and in compliance with the latest regulations and policies in the field of environmental management.

National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance was this year's highlighted topic.

Economic development and revitalization in Appalachia continue to evolve with federal and state funding and private investments.

Pursuant to NEPA, federal actions that trigger NEPA environmental impact review include acceptance of federal funding and/or federal permitting/authorization.

Federal speakers for this conference were invited to provide insights into their areas of expertise for implementing the NEPA program, what actions can be taken to streamline agency NEPA analyses, information and data that project developers should consider bringing to the initial stages of agency collaboration, actions that can be taken by the project developer to promote agency coordination, pointers on what is not useful relative to NEPA analyses, and more.
